April is Stress Awareness Month

April is Stress Awareness Month

Let's face it, life can be stressful.  What's important is how we address and move through it!  Internalized stress can lead to long-term "dis-ease."

Jay Shetty (former monk turned Empowerment Coach) shared in a recent Mind Valley podcast a 20-min morning routine that keeps him at peace no matter what the day brings.  Each one takes just 5 minutes - that's less time than watching your favorite show.

Try his T.I.M.E. method for a week and see what changes you experience.

  1. Thankfulness - start each day writing  or giving thanks for 3 things.
  2. Inspiration - find something or someone to inspire you; quotes or affirmations are great. Find one that speaks to you and write it on a sticky note; post it on your mirror or somewhere your guaranteed to see it daily.
  3. Meditation - find a space without distractions, inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth for 3 repetitions, then sit quietly for 5 minutes not paying attention to the things going on around you. Congratulations, you've just learned meditation.
  4. Exercise - take a walk around your block, find an online yoga class, run in place or dance to your favorite song - get that body moving!!

Please come back to this post and share your experience in the comments if you're led to.

Each month I pull an energy card for a collective focus. This month our energy card comes from the True Heart Intuitive Tarot deck by actress Rachel True of The Craft and Half & Half.

Keep scrolling for this month's message . . .

This month we are being asked to find the balance in our lives. Have you been giving too much of yourself away? Are you anxious about the future? It's time to give yourself permission to practice self-love without guilt. You can't fully show up for others fully until you first show up for yourself. The airline emergency protocol is to put your mask on first before assisting others.

How will you practice self-love this month to reduce stress/anxiety?
